The Capitol School

The Capitol School’s Summer Explorations 2013 begins on June 3 and continues with two-week sessions until Friday, August 9-- just before the new school year starts.

The class topics range from math, foreign language, reading, music, and art to Lego’s and dinosaurs. Whatever your child’s interest, you will find a class that fits! The Capitol School's Summer Explorations provides five 2-week sessions of enriching, educational topics with qualified teachers (most have earned Master’s degrees). Students range in age from 2.5 years old to 13+ years old. Each age group has classes that correspond to their levels and interests. Have a high school student in need of credit recovery? Enroll them in a high school class to earn credit.  This summer marks our 20th year to offer outstanding summer classes for children!

Working parents appreciate being able to drop off their children on the way to their workplace since the school opens at 7:30 am. Morning classes meet from 8:00 to noon. Afternoon classes meet from 1:00 until 5:00 pm. Children enrolled in both morning and afternoon classes should bring a lunch & snacks and the school will provide supervision during lunch at no charge!  Teachers will be on duty until 5:30 p.m. so that parents can pick up their children after they leave work. Cost is $200 for 40 hours of instruction in the 2 week class -- just $5.00 per hour!

Parents often say, “My job doesn’t provide a 10 week summer vacation but my children’s school does!” Wouldn’t it be nice if we all had 2 1/2 months to entertain and educate our kids? We could take educational trips to landmarks and museums, visit relatives, and bake cookies.

If you are asking how to plan 10 weeks of activities for your children, maybe The Capitol School has the answer for your family. Parents who want to enroll their children in swimming lessons at Swim Kids in the afternoon might want to only enroll for Capitol School’s morning session. On the other hand, parents might want to take their children to Bible School in the morning and enroll only in Capitol School’s afternoon session. Taking a vacation for a week? Then, ask about signing up for the “one week only” price, of course. The Capitol School offers a very flexible schedule.

Lake Forest Ranch
Lake Forest Ranch is an interdenominational evangelical Christian co-ed summer youth and children’s camp located in east central Mississippi. Located less than two hours west of Tuscaloosa, LFR is surrounded by a 50,000 acre pine forest and is situated next to the beautiful 60 acre Shadow Lake.

We have 12 summer camps available for children and teens and there is one camp called Mission Camp Macon that is for student missionaries. The LFR mission is, “Building Relationships for Eternal Impact.” Some of the great tools of the trade to help accomplish this mission include horseback riding, a wild ride on a water tube, low and high ropes course elements (zip line, climbing wall, challenge course, vertical playpen, and more), basketball, gym games, tennis, beach volleyball, swimming, fishing, canoeing, paddle boating, wacky team competition events each morning, archery, athletic tournaments, Frisbee golf, ultimate Frisbee, a fully equipped game room/arcade, and much more. We also have a paint ball course for teens that students and staff alike say is a BLAST! As you can imagine, the fun is unbeatable.

With a combination of this kind of high energy recreation along with heart-transforming messages from our speakers, challenging small group Bible Studies led by the summer staff, Christ-exalting praise and worship, and a close connection that each camper has with his/her camp counselor, each week at Lake Forest Ranch will be packed with memories that will last a lifetime. With times of fun, laughter, quiet reflection, and spiritual nurture, spiritual growth in Christ happens during each of the amazing camp weeks at Lake Forest Ranch!

Riverview Camp For Girls
Have you ever seen a place so beautiful, picturesque and exciting that you commented, “I wish I could step into that setting?” Well, here’s your chance! Riverview Camp is located only 3 hours away on top of Lookout Mountain in Mentone, Alabama. Considered one of the South’s leading camps for girls, Riverview is a place where girls enjoy both one and two week sessions of fun.
As a traditional Christian camp, Riverview offers an abundance of activities for campers to enjoy. The age range of campers is 6 to 16, and campers live in cozy cabins (bath rooms and showers in all cabins), often with their “best friend from home.” Perhaps, like some, you will attend camp without a friend, only to find new friends immediately, and continue to return year after year, just to be with those buddies. “My only regret about camping is that I did not begin camping at an earlier age -- because those camp years are gone forever,” lamented a teen from Sarasota, FL recently, who attended camp for 6 weeks. “My daughter will begin attending Riverview when she is 6 years old,” she added. And many do! At that age they “bubble” (love everything about camp)! In order to make camp “parent-interactive,” Riverview downloads photos daily of campers and camp activities...so you will be seeing your daughter(s) while she is there!

What sets Riverview apart? The staff! Most of the counselors have actually grown up attending Riverview since their youth and have continued to return year after year! Finally, as enthusiastic collegians they come back to camp to give back to children. They sincerely want to have a positive impact on the campers and to support Riverview’s philosophy of empowering youth to make good decisions as they grow up! As Directors/Owners, Susan and Dr. Larry Hooks enter their 29th year as Camp Directors, their message is “We thank God for the privilege every day and we thank you! At camp…it is amazing how children will grow…Grow self-confidence and friendships and values that last a lifetime!

Riverview also offers a Mother-Daughter Weekend that is totally mom-daughter interaction. There is one in April and in August and you can apply on line!

Call now to receive free information or go on-line to view 2 camp videos and enroll as well. You are also invited to come for a “camp tour” prior to camp. Just give us a call to schedule one at your convenience! Contact Tuscaloosa’s local representative, Jennifer Fisher, at ent3@comcast.net, call 800-882-0722 or go to www.riverviewcamp.com.
